February 2012 Meeting

We meet the first Tuesday of the month, so join us on February 7, 2012, 7:30 p.m., in the basement of Harrow United Church (955 Mulvey Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba – in the River Heights area).

The project for the month is a 1:12 replica of the CB2 Sawyer Adriondack Chair – “a new twist on an old favourite.”

Kits are $10 and you need to bring the following supplies: wood glue, toothpicks, gluing jog, fine sandpaper, pencil, paint or stain, varnish, and paint brush.

Please contact Karen Gahan directly (in your membership list) by January 8, 2012, if you would like to purchase a kit and participate.

See you in February!

Welcome New Contributors!

I’m pleased to welcome Dianna and Virginia to the MEOW website. They’ll be posting about upcoming events (like our fabulous Show and Sale), monthly meeting details and reminders (for example, that we’ll be holding an auction sale at our September meeting).

Auction Sale

Back by popular demand is our Annual Auction Sale which takes place at the September meeting  and it’s a great way for the club to raise funds for the newsletter.

Members attending that evening are asked to bring one quality miniature item to be auctioned off and  Christine K.  has wonderfully volunteered to be the auctioneer that evening.

Show and Sale

MEOW’s annual Dollhouses & Miniatures Show & Sale is coming up! This is a great chance to admire our members’ handiwork, purchase a treasure or two and learn about our upcoming meetings and events.

Join us on Sunday, October 23 from 10 am to 4 pm at the Dakota Community Club in St. Vital (1188 Dakota Street, 2nd Floor). Confirmed dealers include Copperfield Books, Shoestring Miniatures and Toad Hall Toys.

Admission is $3.00 ($2.00 for seniors and children under 12). We’ll have craft tables for the kids, but we can’t allow strollers into the event because of the limited space and delicate nature of our displays. And don’t forget to enter our door prize draw!
